When you walk around the displays in Go Fetch in Kimberley, it takes a while to realize you are actually in a store for all things canine. There is bling and lots of pretty stuff, comfortable cushions, yummy-looking cookies and really, really fun toys.

Then you see two very cute dogs, and you start to pay more attention—and you realize this is the be-all and end-all store for puppies.

It is so easy to tell that owner Dallas Vaillancourt has a super soft spot in her heart for dogs. Her cute canines, Katy and Charlie, often accompany her to work. She is a Kimberley native (sort of), and she opened the doors to Go Fetch in October of 2010, so has been in business for just over two years.

“I spent my most impressionable years right here in Kimberley,” said Vaillancourt. “Prior to that I lived in the small mining town of Cassiar in northern British Columbia.”

As a child, Vaillancourt wanted to be a nurse, and when she became one, she worked in the industry for about seven years.

“I then realized I wanted to venture off and follow dreams of being my own boss,” she said. “I have a love for animals and opening Go Fetch seemed to be the right thing to do.”

And for Vaillancourt, Kimberley seemed to be the right place for the store.

“Especially as everyone and their dog has a dog here,” she said.

Personally

Vaillancourt considers herself to be a competitive person and likes to be good at what she does, she said.

“That is why I only do things that I am good at,” she joked.

She said that while she likes being around people and getting together for social occasions, she really enjoys her downtime at home.

Vaillancourt is enthusiastic about her favourite part of the business.

“I love it when people bring their pets in—especially the puppies,” she said.

Go Fetch is a great part of the Kimberley downtown shopping core. The business frequently donates gifts for local fundraisers and charities, and is a favourite of Kimberley locals. No one can resist spoiling the loved ones in their life—especially the furry, barking sort—and Vaillancourt gives people that chance with her store, Go Fetch.
